CCTV can help protect you

Having CCTV cameras installed at home, in business places, and possibly in every street can help protect you and other people. CCTV stands for Closed Circuit Television Cameras which hold high importance when it comes to providing video surveillance. Having these devices can be really of great help to prevent stealing, robbery and other act of felony to happen. In this article, we will be discussing how CCTV devices are great security devices and how they have helped preventing violence to occur and how they have helped solving crimes.

Caught in a CCTV device

Just last week of September of this year, tens of thousands of people in Australia mourned the violent death of an Irish Journalist named Jill Meagher whose body was found a week after her disappearance. Jill Meagher, 29, vanished following a night out with colleagues from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. This violent murder of a young woman was solved with the help of a business CCTV camera system installed inside a boutique store. In a video that the CCTV  caught Jill Meagher was standing outside the boutique and was talking to a man who was later identified as Adrian Ernest Bayley, 41. The CCTV  camera played a very important role in solving this crime. Without it,  the crime wouldn’t have been solved and Mr. Barley might have got away with the murder as a free man.

Following the violent murder of Jill Meagher, Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu has ordered an audit of Melbourne's CCTV network to identify any black spot, and pledged up to A$3 million (NZ$3.75m) in funding for local councils to install new CCTV devices. Mr. Baillieu believed that having security cameras play a very important role in the safety and security of the public and that had been seen after a CCTV device played a huge contribution in solving the murder case of Jill Meagher.

Other than Jill Meagher’s case, there’s a lot of violence of acts that had been solved with the help of the CCTV devices. Help protect yourself, your family, and other people by having CCTV  devices installed in places near you and talk to your local CCTV network to install new CCTV  devices to public streets. Having cameras everywhere might not the solution to prevent criminal activities but it somehow helps to prevent more from occurring and helps identify bits and pieces of what actually happened in a crime scene or places near it which can help solving the crime.
